The Addicts Comedy Tour stems from the fact that the clean and sober population don't always have a lot of live entertainment options, since so much live entertainment is fueled by alcohol. This show invites people in recovery to come out and have a great time. Enjoy the big laughs emanating from surviving life's darkest moments in this funny, poignant stand-up comedy show about the journey back to sanity. The Addicts' Comedy Tour is a new stand-up show about navigating life challenges with laughter. Drawing upon their shared experiences around persistent addictions, nationally headlining in-demand recovery comedians Kurtis Matthews and Andy Gold tour together to share colorful stories about life, love, jail and rehab, and keep you laughing along the way.
Kurtis Matthews has toured nationally and internationally since 1984. He starred in the BBCs 'Find me the Funny' and has appeared on A&E and VH1. Currently, he performs in multiple NA, AA conventions, Rehabs and private fundraisers every year. In 1999, he founded the San Francisco Comedy College (SFCC), which has become the largest stand-up school in America. Over the past fifteen years, the SFCC has cultivated new comedians who have revitalized the local comedy market and have won a majority of comedy competitions in the Bay Area.
Andy Gold lives in L.A. and writes and really good jokes. The winner of the Salt Lake Comedy Festival, Andy has also been accepted in festivals and competitions all over the country, including the Boston Comedy Festival, Ventura Comedy Festival, Rocky Mountain Laugh Off, San Diego Comedy Festival, Laugh Your Ashville Off, Trial by Laughter Comedy Festival, Golden Spike Comedy Festival and Idaho Laugh Fest. Andy draws humor from all parts of his life, including his struggles with addiction. Which has made him a favorite on the recovery circuit, doing shows for recovery groups across the country. His really good jokes have also appeared on Comedy Time TV, Hulu, and Nick Mom (which is impressive since Andy is definitely not a mom). A prolific writer, Andy’s material runs the gamut from talking about being a recovering addict, to dating, to family, to working at his dad’s produce stand, and it’s all tied together by one thing, and one thing only: really big laughs.
